JINN AND ANGELS

Allah, the Almighty, created not only mankind, but also jinn and angels, and made them wise creatures. He gave them sense and knowledge so they could know their Lord and understand what He wants from them. Man is a creature with a physical and tangible body who lives on this earth. But jinn and angels have no such tangible bodies like man, so they cannot be seen by the eye. Also apart from angels and jinn there are other things which cannot be seen.

For instance, if you bring a magnet near small pieces of iron filings, you will see these tiny particles attracted towards the magnet until they become attached to it.

You see the movement of the small iron pieces but not the magnetic pull which causes them to move. But indeed, this power xists although it is invisible to the human eye.

Most surely you yourself are wise and thoughtful. You have an intellect, which understands and recognize things but cannot be seen. It is your mind, which is another invisible power.

Jinn and angels are creatures which, similarly, cannot be seen with out eyes. It was Allah, the Most High Who mentioned them in the Holy Qur'an, and acquainted us with their existence.

The Holy Qur'an and the Glorious Messenger (s.a.w.) described and told us about the jinn, creatures like us but invisible. They are divided into two main groups:

1. The first group which belive in Allah and are obedient to Him.

2. The second group which are corrupt and disobedient to Allah.

So the two are absolutely the same as man concerning being obedient or disobedient, believers or disbelievers.

Concerning angels, they are also Allah's invisible creatures. They are the obedient servants of Allah and never disobey Him. In this respect, they differ from jinn and mankind.

Angels are creatures upon whom Allah, the Most High, ascribes certain duties in this world. Some like the angel Gabriel (a.s.), are responsible for conveying revelations to prophets. It was the angel Gabriel (a.s.), who brought down the Holy Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.); others are responsible for death and capturing human souls; others are responsible for guarding Hell and tormenting sinners; others are responsible for controlling and recording human deeds.

There are two kinds of angels who watch over every one; the first one is the `right' angel, who is responsible for recording the good deeds of man, while the second one is the left angel who is responsible for recording the evil deeds.

Thus, Allah, the Almighty, appointed a certain kind of angel for specific work and duty in this world. Glory be to Allah, the Great Creator Who created what is visible and what is invisible. Surely He is All-Powerful over all things.
